The Bridgewater Historical Society is hosting Cassie Horner author of "Lucy E. – Road to Victory" to a talk and book signing at the Bridgewater Historical Society's old brick schoolhouse located at 12 North Bridgewater Rd, in Bridgewater, VT. on Sunday, August 25th at 2:00 pm. The presentation is free and open to the public. Refreshments provided.

Meet Lucy E. a tough driven woman, born in the mountain town of Mount Holly, Vermont about 1826. This is the story, based on fact, of her survival through increasing hard times in Vermont and New Hampshire, beginning with the deaths of her father and husband, and her fateful second marriage to a Civil War veteran who turned out to be a drinker, gambler, arsonist and abusive husband. Through all the roughness of her life, she persevered in her goals to be a landowner and farmer like her father. How she succeeded and failed is the heart of Lucy E. – Road to Victory.

The Bridgewater Historical Society located on 12 North Bridgewater Rd is raffling off a beautiful signed Amish Quilt. Made in 1997 in Lancaster PA, it is queen size (97"X108"). It is the Lone Star Pattern, machine stitched, hand quilted with a scalloped border and hand appliqué flowers and birds.
