In May, the Legislature approved a change to Montpelier's city charter, allowing for "regulation and enforcement of energy efficiency disclosure requirements for existing and new commercial and residential properties at the time a property is listed for sale." The goal is to help consumers be more informed about home energy performance when looking at a potential real estate purchase. A working group of MEAC members, City staff, Efficiency Vermont and Richard Faesy of Energy Futures Group has been working to start to develop a plan for implementing city policy related to energy efficiency. The working group will hold a public information session on Tuesday, August 20th from 6:00-7:30pm at City Hall for residents interested in learning more.
