River Cleanup, City Hall

Past event
Sep 7, 2019, 8:30 AM to 12 PM

Join Friends of the Winooski River in pulling trash from our rivers at the 25th Annual River Cleanup! With low water levels this year, we should have a record haul.

Meet at 8:30 am at City Hall for assignment to a section of river and to get instructions from your site captain. Dress to get wet and muddy, including shoes you can wear in the river that will protect your feet from sharp/heavy stuff. Bring gloves, sun protection, water, a snack. Children are welcome, but must be supervised by an adult.

If you have an old canoe that you don't mind piling with tires and weird old metal objects, we'd love to use it. Also, if you can spare a 5-gallon bucket or two, bring them along.

We have found many surprising things in the river over the years, including a porta-potty, antique rifles, a cash register, and a purse. There will be a fine assortment of FWR swag for this year's weirdest item, plus bragging rights.

If you have questions, please contact Michele or Shawn at [firstname]@winooskiriver.org
