Craftsbury Chamber Players Final Concert

Past event
Aug 14, 2019, 7:30 to 9:30 AM

The final Craftsbury Chamber Players concert of the 2019 season will take place on Wednesday, August 14th at 7:30 pm at the Elley-Long Music Center of St. Michael's College (Fort Ethan Allen Campus). It is dedicated to Mary Anthony Cox, one of the founders of the Players and the longtime Artistic Director of the group. The concert begins with Beethoven's "Trio in c minor" for violin, cello, and piano and it concludes with Robert Schumann's glorious "Quintet in E-flat Major" for two violins, viola, cello and piano, a work played by Mary Anthony with the same supporting cast we will hear this week. The pianist will be the incomparable Inessa Zaretsky. The in-between pieces will be works by two composers who were also Mary Anthony Cox's teachers when she was a student in Paris before she entered Juilliard. The first, Nadia Boulanger's "Three Pieces" for Cello and Piano (1914) is composed of three little gems, and the second, by Robert Casadesus, "Hommage a Chausson (1954) pays tribute to the French Romantic composer Ernest Chausson (1855-1899). There will be a pre-concert "chat" at 6:45pm. Tickets are $25, $10 for students, and free for children 12 and under. There is a FREE afternoon mini-concert for children and families at 4pm. Free passes for the adult concert are available at all Chittenden County public libraries. For more information call 1-800-639-3443 or check the website www.craftsburychamberplayers.org.
