Coming soon: The New England Green River Marathon! September 1, 2019.
This is the second year of this marathon which runs from Marlboro College in Vermont to Greenfield Community College in Massachusetts. The race raises funds for the Connecticut River Conservancy and the Sugarloaf Mountain Athletic Club's running club, and partners with the Green River Watershed Alliance. The race has been full since April, so no more runners are needed, but if you'd like to volunteer, please visit the signup page at: https://signup.com/go/uYbvOHR You can cheer on the runners, direct them along the route, and help out at aid stations.
The race starts at 7:00 AM, so the hope is that it won't clog up the roads too much. Green River Road will be closed to through-traffic from 7:00 am to 8:30 am on race day, between Moss Hollow Road and Deer Park Road for safety reasons. Thanks to the Halifax Select Board and Highway Department for helping with this! This is intentionally a small community race, expecting about 400 runners on the course.
