100 on 100 Relay Race Volunteers Needed

On Saturday August 17th, the Washington County Youth Service Bureau's Boys & Girls Club's Basement Teen Center (BTC) will be supporting the annual VT 100 on 100 Relay - where runners gather from across the country to complete 100 demanding miles together along Vermont's historic Route 100 from Stowe to Ludlow. This is not your average running event!

The BTC has supported this event for several years by staffing relay transition stations in our service area along the course, which include Hunger Mountain Christian Assembly in Waterbury; Crossett Brook Middle School in Duxbury and Harwood Union High School in Moretown. For each station, the BTC receives a stipend that serves as a helpful revenue source for the teen center's operations.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
We need 3 teams of 4 (12 volunteers total) to cover the stations. Each team will designate a team captain. The places and times of arrival are listed below.

WHAT'S INVOLVED?
At each station, we are responsible for helping to manage the flow of runners and traffic in and out of the relay transition area. We record the time and number of runners as they enter and exit and generally try to keep the area safe and flowing well. Very easy, yet very important! There is no pre-training event commitment required. Volunteers simply show up at the designated station and all of the supplies and instructions are provided to the team prior to the first runner's arrival.

WHAT'S THE TIME COMMITMENT?
Hunger Mountain Assembly: 6:15am - 12pm
Crossett Brook: 7:15am - 12:30pm
Harwood Union: 8:00am - 12:50pm

WHAT'S IN IT FOR YOU?
This event serves as a source of unrestricted revenue for the BTC, which helps to cover the costs of programming. Your involvement is an investment in the approximately 180 youth that attend the BTC annually and rely on this important space to connect with their peers, explore new interests and receive support. The event itself promotes teamwork, physical activity, and our beautiful state. It's a pretty fun day with a great cause!

INTERESTED?
Volunteers have been hard to recruit this year. If you're interested in helping, please let us know. We could also use your help to recruit volunteers even if you are unable to! Know someone that loves running and may want to volunteer to support runners and running events? Could you help by facilitating an introduction with them so we can present the opportunity? We appreciate any way you may be able to assist. Thank you for your consideration.
