Correction: Film Screening at Monkton Central School

Past event
Mar 21, 2014

A good neighbor alerted me to the fact that I never put where the screening was being held for "The Summer of Walter Hacks"....it will be screening at Monkton Central School at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 21. Because it came from me through the opera house signature I'm sure I've confused some folks.

My apologies and I still hope you can finda way to head about 10 miles east to Monkton Central School for this screening on Friday.

Cheers,
Gerianne

Everything else below is still true....

Vermont Film Screening: The Summer of Walter Hacks
Event: Mar 21, 2014, 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM at Monkton Central School.

Dear Friends,

Community members from Monkton, including the Monkton Community Coffeehouse, are presenting a screening of the award-winning feature film, "The Summer of Walter Hacks". This Vermont-made film was co-written and produced by Ferrisburgh resident Gerianne Smart (me) and was directed and co-written by Waterbury Center Dairy farmer, actor and musician, George Woodard. The film was completed and premiered in 2010. There is no DVD of the film, and it is not on-line, so the only way to see it is at specials screenings like this.

ABOUT THE FILM: The black and white film tells the story of an 11-year-old farm boy, during the summer of 1952. He lives on the farm with his father and older brother and they all do their chores. His seemingly idyllic life is challenged when tragedy strikes the farm and he and his brother need to make things work "all on their own". They have to grow up fast and we see Walter transition from a young boy with an adventurous summer to a young man having to make hard choices. Full of humor, adventure and excitement, this film is capturing hearts, from 11 year old children to their great grandparents and everyone in between.

The film features many familiar faces and places from throughout Addison County and chronicles the life of an 11-year-old Vermont farm boy and his struggles, during the summer of 1952. More information about the film can be found at http://www.pastureproductions.com.

See if you can spot:
New Haven resident John Palmer and his horses
Peter and Steve Markowski
Bill and Kristin Benton
Many local members of the North Ferrisburgh United Methodist Church
Monkton resident and fiddler Pete Sutherland
Hinesburg resident John Kiedaisch
...and many, many more!

The film is free but a suggested donation of $5 is appreciated.

Both filmmakers will be at the screening.

Hope to see you there!
Cheers,
Gerianne
