Seeds to Venezuela!

In its attempt to impose a puppet government in Venezuela, the United States has seized the country's assets and set up a blockade preventing essential products of all kinds from being imported. This has created a situation of serious hardship for the popular classes. They have responded with impressive efforts to produce food and other essentials.

Seeds have a key role in this effort, and they are desperately needed. Fortunately, a delegation will be traveling to Venezuela on August 19th to visit urban and rural communes that are raising food. They will be taking seeds along in their luggage.

We are asking for donations to purchase a variety of vegetable seeds to be delivered this way to communes for food production and to establish non-GMO seed banks. Checks can be made out to Peace & Justice Center with 'Venezuela seeds' on the memo, mail to 60 Lake Street, Suite 1C, Burlington VT 05401

Speaker on Venezuela

William Camacaro will be speaking in Burlington on Saturday, August 3, to present a more complete picture of life in Venezuela and the nature of US intervention in that country. Mr. Camacaro is a well-known socialist voice, not only in Venezuela, but also in New York City. A long-time host at Pacifica Radio, he was one of the few who encouraged CITGO to provide free heating services to poor neighborhoods in New York. William is Venezuelan, but has lived in New York for years, promoting understanding of events in Venezuela by organizing tours, events, demonstrations, etc. He is well known and respected in Venezuela and other countries, and the trust he has developed has given him access to many interesting sources.
