GET READY: TOMORROW, SATURDAY July 27 at 6:30 p.m, at the Island Arts Center in North Hero ...Ttwenty-two French Horn players from all over Vermont are coming to the Homer Knight barn in North Hero to perform as part of the Island Arts Summer Concert Series. The Green Mountain Horn Club (GMHC) loves performing and the idea of benefiting the Islands Arts Youth Scholarship Fund was added incentive.
Rehearsing for this concert in North Hero has been met with added enthusiasm. Along with Sousa, and a few popular tunes, they have been working on an arrangement of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture and some favorite Sousa marches. Thus, percussion is needed!
As an extra highlight to the evening, Bill Karstens, a member from Alburgh, has organized a quartet of Wagner tubas', Geman cousins of the French horn, If you like the sound of brass, what more could you ask for? Quite a spectacle all in one location is certainly rare and an occasion not to miss! Come bring a picnic, support Island Arts and enjoy a fun-filled brassy evening overlooking Lake Champlain at the Homer Knight Barn.. Cost is by donation. All benefit goes to Island Arts Youth Scholarships Fund. Bring your picnic and chair or blanket: gates open at 5:30 p.m. for picnicking.
