On Sunday, July 28th beginning at 9 am, kids of all ages are invited to join Brazilian Professor Fua Nascimiento for a 90-minute immersion in the art of Capoeira, a complex union of fight, dance, and ritual. Invented by Brazilian slaves, and practiced in 150 countries today, Capoeira – and Fua's style of teaching it – incorporates Brazilian culture, language, and traditions, while building strength, flexibility, stamina, coordination, mind/body awareness, rhythm, and social skills.
Brookfield students will fondly remember learning capoeira with Fua when he was the 2017-18 Artist in Residence, and will want to take advantage of this special opportunity to sing, dance, and "fight" with him again!
After working up an appetite and directly following the capoeira class, Rise VT and Gifford Medical will lead kids in making a seasonal and healthy snack.
There is no cost to attend these events, which are generously sponsored through a grant from Vermont Mutual Insurance Group.
