This coming Saturday Chandler presents a sextet of professional actors in a multi-generational dramedy posing a question timely for today: what is a family?
In "All Together Now", the doorbell rings one morning at the home of Paul and Adam and in walks 15-year old Fox, who tells them he is Paul's son and wants to live with them. Arriving to share this news are Paul's parents Jim and Dorothy, and Fox's mother Julie. This life-changing moment touches Paul and Adam as they consider marriage; Jim and Dorothy, who never expected to be grandparents; and Julie, who wants to keep control of her maturing son. Alternately funny and serious, this play introduces us to wonderful people who will never lie but are very good at avoiding "...the whole truth".
The cast members are talented actors from New York City and Boston. The play was written by Philip Middleton Williams, and Jarvis Green (recently featured, on VPR, as a rising young Vermont artist) is directing.
"All Together Now" can be seen this Saturday July 27th and will be repeated on Sunday August 4th, both at 7:30 PM, at Chandler Music Hall in Randolph. A talkback between the audience and ensemble members will follow, with a complimentary reception afterward.
The Music Hall is an air-conditioned space, thanks to donations of community members.
Festival ticket prices are adults, $20, students, $15. A 3-admission flex pass, good for any combination of tickets, costs $50 adults, students $35. Three-Squares/SNAP participants and food-shelf clients can purchase a $5 ticket at the door, no questions asked. Tickets are now on sale at www.chandler-arts.org or (802) 728-9878.
