Our words matter. Communication is essential for bringing ideas into reality. If we want to work with others, we have to pay attention to how we communicate, learning to listen deeply to our own inner voices and to the people around us. Training in mindfulness can help us see the habitual ways in which we communicate – or don't – and meet one another on fresh and open ground.
This final class in a four-session series will be on Wednesday, July 24th from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the St. Johnsbury Athenaeum; it is designed to help both beginning and experienced meditators gain a fresh perspective on our communication styles and explore how we might enhance our ability to connect with others.
Basic mindfulness meditation instruction will be given at each session, so beginners are welcome at any time. For those already practicing mindfulness, each month we'll explore tools for and advantages of applying it in different everyday situations.
In addition to mindfulness meditation, we'll explore other contemplative disciplines including using mindful journaling as a tool for exploring experience. The program will be led by Carol Hyman, Executive Director of Applied Mindfulness Training, and Reeve Lindbergh, author and board member of Applied Mindfulness Training.
