History Tour: First Settlers Cemetery East, Roxbury

Join Jack and Wendy Cashman of the Roxbury Cemetery Commission, and historian Alice Wakefield, for a tour of First Settlers Cemetery East, in East Roxbury on Sunday, July 28th, from 2-3.30PM.
Alice will discuss the history of the cemetery and its occupants.
There will also be a demonstration of gravestone cleaning techniques. Attendees are welcome to assist current restoration efforts by trying their hand at stone cleaning (wear work clothes).

First Settlers Cemetery East is located in East Roxbury, on Steele Hill Road, 2 miles west of the junction with VT Route 12. If the weather is questionable, call Susan Shea at 802-728-5320 for a status.

This event is organized in association with the West Brookfield Village Trust. Event is free, however donations are welcome. Donations go towards the Trust's West Brookfield Meetinghouse restoration project.

Jack and Wendy Cashman are members of the Roxbury Cemetery Commission and are committed to the preservation and restoration of the cemeteries in and around Roxbury, VT. They are active in the Vermont Old Cemeteries Association (VOCA), a non-profit dedicated to the location, preservation, and restoration of Vermont's old cemeteries.
