The Andover Project Committee is planning a fun afternoon of music at the Andover Town Hall on Saturday, August 17 from 3 to 5 PM.
The music will be provided by the talented, hometown Specker family. The afternoon will feature brilliant old time instrumentals on triple fiddles, John's outstanding claw hammer banjo and a lot of heartfelt singing. The Rutland Herald wrote: "John Specker conjures and invokes primal spirits with melodies and rhythms he says are thousands of years old. Most people think he's just a fine old-time fiddle player."
Independently, John's daughters Lila and Ida Mae Specker carry on the family tradition, "old-time music for modern times," with their own independent offshoot, The Terrible Mountain String Band. Please visit www.johnspecker.com and www.idamaespecker.com for additional information.
In good weather, this event will be outdoors. Bring your own chairs or blankets to sit on, a snack to share and your own (non-alcoholic) beverage to this casual Andover get-together. There will be Andover t-shirts for sale.
Admission is free and the event will take place rain or shine.
