Country Rock at The Barrage

The Barrage has got some new country rock acts coming through town on Sunday, July 14th. Eric Cassels Brown just headlined at Higher Ground, and Leland Sundries are based out of NYC and driving on through while on their northeast tour supporting their latest release "Pray Through Gritted Teeth".

~Leland Sundries - "Leland Sundries, a band from New York led by Nick Loss-Eaton, is dedicated to storytelling in a way that recalls Woody Guthrie and his Folkways brethren. [Their] scrappy Americana will get you longing for empty two-lane highways and kudzu-encased back porches." (New York Times). "Scrappy yet ingenuous rock poetry." (Mojo). "Heaps of wit and melody… Beautiful rambling storytelling that flirts with pop and sounds a little like Silver Jews." (Uncut).

~Eastern Mountain Time - with the 2017 release of their first LP Mountain Country, EMT quickly set themselves from the rest of the Burlington music scene with their unique take on americana country music. Seven Days' Dan Bolles praised the record, writing "This is shuffling, 1970s-style country music as much by way or urban poet Charles Bukowski as Gram Parsons. As a result, the album has an edge that saves it from sad-sack navel-gazing" and "Altogether, Mountain Country could serve as either the soundtrack to wasted nights or the odd clarity of the hangover that sometimes follows them." Now with their latest single, "Darker Now", they develop some fresh fuzz on their solid country sound.

~Erin Cassels-Brown - Erin Cassels-Brown is a songwriter and musician from Burlington, Vermont. He writes celestial country music that walks the line between the milky way and a county fair. After working as a carpenter and installing solar panels while playing in local bands and reading rock and roll biographies, he released his debut solo EP Northern Lights Vol. 1. These days he goes running in the mornings, plays in bars at night, and thinks in sad rhymes during the day. Playing over two hundred and forty shows across 12 states in 2017 as well as working with local musicians to assemble a rotating cast of players for his backing band has developed his reputation as one of Vermont's hardest working performers. In March of 2018 he began work on his debut full length LP.to be released within the year.
