Second Saturday Contra & Square Dance Continues July 13

Past event
Jul 13, 2019, 7:30 to 10:30 PM

The Second Saturday contra and square dance in nearby Williamstown continues on Saturday, July 13, this time featuring music by Bennington fiddler Matthew Christianson and multi-instrumentalist Max Carmichael. Since Matthew and Max met in Brooklyn, they have played dances and traditional music across the country on fiddle, foot percussion and guitar. Max says, "The Bennington dance meant a lot to me growing up there and I'm elated that this is happening close by." Steve Howland will teach and call the dances.

All dances are taught, and everyone—including families and people who just want to watch and enjoy the music—is welcome. No need to bring a partner or have previous experience.

Dances are second Saturdays, monthly (except for August), from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at  777 Main Street, Williamstown, MA in the Williamstown Community Preschool—formerly the Methodist Church—at the corner of Route 2 and Route 43.

Admission is $12, or $5 for students and $25 for families. Contributions to the snack potluck during the break are welcome (but must be nut-free!).

Note: The Dance is taking a break in August but will resume on September 14 with Tim Ball and Jane Knoeck playing live music and Quena Crane teaching and calling the dances.
