Friday, July 5, at 3:00 p.m. at Rokeby Museum

Join neighbors and friends at Rokeby Museum to read aloud abolitionist Frederick Douglass' most famous speech, delivered on July 5, 1952.

Declining to speak on the 4th of July, Douglass instead spoke passionately about decades of slavery and injustice – one such action in his lifelong pursuit for equality for African Americans.

Also, learn about Frederick Douglass and the speeches he gave in Middlebury and Ferrisburgh in July 1843.

Come add your voice to this statewide public reading sponsored by the Vermont Humanities Council.
