This Tuesday, July 2, while members of Congress are home for the Fourth of July holiday, we will gather at 12 p.m. noon at their local offices in protest. We plan to deliver letters to each of them. Our demands:
• Vote against any funding of the camps as well as ICE and CBP.
• Bear Witness and Reunite Families
• Close the Camps
• Speak out against the arrests, detention, and deportation of workers from our state; and,
• Call for the three workers recently detained in Vermont to be freed to return to their jobs and lives. #FreeUbertoni #FreeMario #FreeIsmael
• Not One Dollar for Family Detention and Deportation
The concentration camps cannot be made better but must be closed, their inmates freed, children reunited with their families, and all of them resettled where they choose and provided services and aid to rebuild their lives.
We will gather at Senator Sanders' office at the top of Church Street to protest and hear a couple speakers. Then we will march to Senator Leahy's office on the corner of Main Street and So Winooski where we will continue to protest and hear are a couple other speakers.
