Reading Frederick Douglass on the Northfield Common

Past event
Jul 2, 2019, 4 to 5:30 PM

REPARATIONS are in the news. Need some historical context? Come to the NORTHFIELD Farmers Market on The Common Tuesday, July 2 at 4pm to read the fiery speech the great Abolitionist Frederick Douglass made in 1852 ( "The Meaning of the Fourth of July for the Negro"). That will get you thinking...and talking! We will have abridged copies of the speech and we will take turns reading it aloud to each other. This event is sponsored by the Friends of the Brown Public Library and the VT Humanities Council https://www.vermonthumanities.org/programs/public-programs/reading-frederick-douglass/
