Singer/songwriter Dan Murphy of the local band, ONEoverZERO, and solo project Daniel Waterhouse, will be leading a songwriting workshop on Tuesday evening, July 16th from 6:30-8 pm at the Waterbury Library.
Your instrument may be piano, guitar, voice, or something else; it matters not. Dan will be sharing his experience in crafting tunes with the hopes of giving tools and tips to assist you in your creative process. You might have the beginning of a song, and that's it. Where do you go? Maybe you write the lyrics first, maybe you write the song. How do you use the notes in your song to work with the lyrics? These are all questions Dan can answer. If there is time, he'll talk about the recording process and how to bring your songs to life.
Dan began his career with an old, cheap, acoustic guitar and taught himself how to play in order to bring his first song ideas to fruition. That grew to playing in various bands playing covers, to those featuring his songs. After learning the ins and outs of sound engineering, he built his own recording studio in Waterbury Center. To check out Dan's work you can google Daniel Waterhouse bandcamp. To register for the workshop, call 244-7036.
