Manchester Community Library will host a free Tai Chi Chuan and Chi Kung demonstration class on Tuesday, July 2, from 8:30 a.m. to 9:40 a.m. in the Hunter Community Room, taught by Nelson P. Clark.
Many studies tout the benefits of Tai Chi and Chi Kung. The slow gentle stretching and postures help to improve balance, reduce the fear and incidents of falls, increase blood flow, decrease blood pressure, improve nerve function, flexibility, strength, brain plasticity, and awareness. As we grow older it becomes vital to maintain these abilities.
Nelson Clark has been a Tai Chi Chuan and Chi Kung instructor since 1990. He also holds a license as a massage therapist, and is a personal trainer. Prior to retiring to this area, Clark taught classes throughout New York and Connecticut, both group and private. He currently teach classes at Heart Of The Village Yoga studio and at Bennington Recovery Network.
Participants in the free demo class should wear comfortable clothing. Based on participation and interest, the Library will assess whether to offer an ongoing Tai Chi Chuan and Chi Kung morning class in the future. Manchester Community Library is located at 138 Cemetery Ave. in Manchester Center, VT. Info: 802-362-2607.
