Contra at the Grange - Nils Fredland & Faux Paws

Past event
Jun 15, 2019, 7:30 to 11 PM

This Saturday, June 15th, Nils Fredland, one of the most popular callers for dancers around New England and at dance festivals around the country, will be leading the "newcomers" session at about 7:45 PM, and will teach and call fun, social dances for everyone from 8:00 to 11:00. If you are new to this type of dancing, or would like a refresher on the basics, come on over for the intro session. Nils is also an accomplished trombone player, and may well join in playing with...
Faux Paws, which will get you on the dance floor with high-energy music that won't let you sit still. The band features Andrew VanNorstrand on guitar, Noah VanNorstrand on fiddle, mandolin and foot percussion, and Chris Miller on banjo and saxophone. They've been playing together since 2010, and tour the country playing concerts and dances at festivals and contra dances.

Tips for dancers: bring clean shoes for dancing on "one of the best dance floors in New England", or clean them up with our tools. Wear light, comfortable clothing. Bring a water bottle, or keep hydrated with our water fountains. Come by yourself and find dance partners in our friendly group, and bring your friends!

Capital City Grange Hall is at 6612 Rt. 12/Northfield St., just south of the I-89 overpass, 1 mile south of Montpelier. Admission—basic price is $10 for adults, but $5 for kids & low-income.
