Postpartum Transitions...For Fathers!

Past event
Jun 12, 2019, 5:30 to 7 PM

Presented by The Family Center's Jennifer Auletta & Chris Robinson

1 in 4 women experience a Postpartum Mood and Anxiety Disorder (PMAD), but what about partners/husbands? Whether it is the challenge to supporting a partner/wife who is struggling or being one of the 1 in 10 dads who has Postpartum Depression or Anxiety themselves, we know that partners/husbands are deeply affected by the transition to parenthood.

The Central Vermont Perinatal Mental Health Coalition is offering this community workshop to raise awareness and decrease stigma about PMADs and its effect on all members of a family, to share our growing local network of supports for families and offer participants opportunity to share their experiences. This workshop is in conjunction with Good Beginning's hosting of its second Annual Climb Out of Darkness, a Postpartum Support International event, June 15 in Montpelier.

Becoming a parent is one of the biggest life transitions we go through, postpartum reactions are common, often unexpected, and deserve the best attention to help your family thrive.

Space is limited, but we will also cancel due to low attendance expectation, so registration in advance is suggested through the Hunger Mountain Co-op. All workshops are free and held in the Hunger Mountain Co-op community room unless otherwise noted, with access to a freight elevator upon request.
