11th Annual Juneteenth Celebration
Presented by New Alpha Missionary Baptist Church
McClure Multigenerational Center
241 North Winooski Ave, Burlington

Join us as we celebrate Juneteenth. In 2008, Vermont became the 29th state in the nation to recognize Juneteenth as a state holiday. Juneteenth is the oldest of African American holidays and commemorates the delayed notification (on June 19, 1865) of the Emancipation Proclamation (January, 1863). The Vermont Proclamation designates the third Saturday of June State Juneteenth Day. Activities will include:

• Poetry & History Readings
• Performances and Celebration in Music
• Special Presentation: Vermont Constitution and Slavery
• Honoring Roy and Shirley Hill for their Juneteenth Contribution
• Special Guest: The Honorable Governor Jim Douglas

Donations of perishable food, personal care items and socks will be accepted.

Collected items and nonperishables will go to J.U.M.P and Chittenden Food Shelf respectively. All donations will go to King Street Center
