Past event
Jun 8, 2019, 1 to 3 PM

Please Join the Huntington Historical and Community Trust at the Maplewood Cemetery on Saturday from 1:00-3:00pm for a walking program in celebration of our town's Charter Day. Come learn about those who lived in our town before us as you stand at their graves. We will feature many notable residents such as: John Thomas who was born in England and was a soldier in the King's service during the revolutionary war and deserted to remain in Vermont; Cyrus Johns, who was a doctor for the Barnum and Bailey Circus; Georgia Brewster Pierce who left in her will the funding to build a new school in the center village; and Mac Moody who meticulously maintained the sides of the road with a scythe and whose original folk songs are archived at the American Folklife Center. This event is appropriate for families. Please enter through the main gate and follow signs to the top of the hill for parking. There will be a lemonade and bake sale to benefit HHCT. Contact hhctvt@gmail.com or 434-3584 for more questions. We hope you can join us!
