Bill McKibben on His New Book

Past event
Jun 8, 2019, 7 to 8:30 PM

On Saturday, June 8, 7 p.m. at the Hardwick Town House Bill McKibben will be in conversation about his newest book: Falter

Linda Ramsdell, the former owner of The Galaxy Bookshop, will lead a conversation with author and long-time friend Bill McKibben, focusing on his latest book, Falter: Has the Human Game Begun to Play Itself Out? Falter tells the story of the converging trends of climate change and technologies like artificial intelligence and robotics – each, in their own way, posing threats to humanity as we know it – and of the ideological fervor that keeps us from bringing them under control. And then, drawing on McKibben's experience in building 350.org, the first truly global citizens movement to combat climate change, it offers some possible ways out of the trap.

This event is co-sponsored by the Jeudevine Library and the Galaxy Bookshop. This event is free to attend. Donations toward the Jeudevine Library will be accepted. There will be light refreshments. For information call the Jeudevine Library at 472-5948.
