Honoring Tom Morris and his devotion to 'peace, love, and three part harmony.'
People often approached Tom when he was picking his banjo on his front porch or at the beach. They'd say, " Oh, I always wanted to play the banjo!" " Have you got one?", he'd respond. " Uh, no...". " How're you gonna play if you don't have one?"
To help share the love of music that was central to Tom's life, we want to get instruments into the hands of future musicians so they can play, too!
The 2019 Tommy Fest will accept donations of working instruments and/or $ to buy them. We'll match instruments to people who want them. Please contact NJ about any donations and/or what instrument you're hoping for so we can make the perfect match. henrymorris91@hotmail.com. A 'Go Fund Me' site has
been set up at "Tommy Fest" for $ donations.
Think you're too old to pick up an instrument and start playing? Nancy Jean was 62 when Tom got her started on the mandolin! "If I can learn, anybody can", njh. Skill level and age don't matter, and it's too much fun to miss out on at any age!
Tommy Fest 2019 will be held July 6, his birthday. We'll meet by the 'Big Red Tree' in Tommy's beautiful garden that you all created last year. More music, magic, food, and festivities.
Please put the word out about donations, sharing/pairing instruments, and share this notice! THANK YOU all for continuing Tom's spirit of generosity and joy.
