Gamelan Sulukala presents
"The Adventures of Prince Achmed"
with a new, live Gamelan music soundtrack
Gamelan Sūlukāla, the Plainfield area's community gamelan group, has been playing together for the past 6 years using Goddard College's beautiful Javanese Court Gamelan instruments. Our latest project will be a performance of our own soundtrack using Indonesian and American music for gamelan to "The Adventures of Prince Achmed". The film, made in 1926 using cutout silhouette animation technique similar to shadow plays, is based on two tales from the Arabian Nights. The gamelan score creates a magical feeling that greatly enhances the exquisite animation.
There will be 2 shows at the Goddard College Haybarn Theater on Saturday, June 8th at 7:30 pm and Sunday, June 9th at 4 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for kids, contact Steven Light, 802 498-3173, slight@fyreandlightning.org for more information, visit our website: https://sites.google.com/site/gamelansulukala or Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/gamelansulukala
