Saturday, June 1 9am to 1pm- Battling for Native Species on Waitsfield's Austin Walk
Invasive plants (knotweed), floodplain forest restoration, water quality protection, trail conservation! At the Austin Parcel by the Lareau swimming hole across from American Flatbread on Route 100. (The American Flatbread parking area is available if the Lareau lot is overfull – thank you, Flatbread!) The Waitsfield Conservation Commission, Friends of the Mad River, Intervale Conservation Nursery (a social enterprise of the Intervale Center), and Mad River Path Association invite ALL Valley people to join workshops, demonstration projects (such as scything knotweed), and down-in-the-dirt community stewardship in action! Please join us for any part of the program. Bring appropriate clothing, protect yourself against ticks, and wear shoes that will keep the wet out. Try to carpool, please. Refreshments provided by Cabot Cheese! Contact the Commission's Mark Haberle for info and to answer questions – mark.haberle@gmail.com. If you were concerned about chemical treatment, this is a great opportunity to help restore the Austin Parcel by manual methods. Rain or shine!

Sunday, June 2, 3-4 pm - The Path Annual Meeting
Starts at 3 at the Lareau Farmhouse Inn. Ends before 4 when the Mad River Recreation District Recreation Celebration starts at American Flatbread, right next door (see the next event notice for more details about that!) Our staff and board members will discuss plans for this summer and hold board member elections. Members and the public are welcome to join us! (Simultaneously Josh Schwartz from the Mad River Planning District and former Path Director Kevin Russell will lead a walk along the new, improved Hosford Heart of the Valley Trail.)
