Community activist and homeless advocate Stephen Marshall and I will be hosting a Town Hall on Living Homeless this evening at the Salvation Army from 6 - 7:30 PM.
Over the last 4 years and as Chair of the City Council Public Safety Committee, I've worked to support those experiencing homelessness by securing funding to extend the low-barrier homeless shelter, working to bring more restrooms to the downtown, and bringing the homeless into City Hall to have their voices heard. These actions, however, are not my own and came directly from those in the homeless community.
There is great value in hearing directly from those impacted by decisions made by the CIty. If you're interested in hearing about the challenges facing the homeless and discuss opportunities to support that community, come by the Salvation Army to listen and learn.
