Pawlet Library Offers Free Fishing Lessons

Past event
Jun 8, 2019, 10 AM to 1 PM

The Pawlet Public Library is hosting free fishing lessons for all ages and skill levels at Lake St. Catherine State Park. Space is limited so advanced registration is required. Children must be accompanied by an adult. To register, stop in at the library.

Saturday, June 8, is a Free Fishing Day, designated by the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife (VDFW), so you won't need a fishing license for this program. Try your hand at this new skill or join in to help teach if you are experienced. Meet at Lake St. Catherine State Park (also free on this day), and Let's Go Fishing Program volunteer instructor Richard Mann will teach youth and adults how to fish. Bring your own freshwater fishing pole if you have one. A limited number of fishing poles will be available at the park courtesy of VDFW. You will learn about Vermont's fish population and habitat needs, proper fishing skills and ethics, respect for the resources, and responsibility to know the rules and regulations of fishing. Wear water shoes or sandals and bring your own lunch if you want to picnic.

To view additional public programs offered through December and the roster of 2019 children's programs, visit the library's website at www.pawletpubliclibrary.wordpress.com, or stop by the library to pick up a printed brochure. The library is located at 141 School Street in Pawlet.
