Mick Powell is a queer black woman, femme, feminist, teacher, and poet. Her chapbook, chronicle the body, won Yemassee Journal's 2nd Annual Chapbook Contest and was published by the journal in March 2019. Her poems and essays have been published or are forthcoming in Winter Tangerine, The Feminist Wire, Apogee Journal, Nat. Brut, and others. She enjoys talking about beauty products, bodies, Beyoncé, and baked goods. @mickmakesmagic .
Shanta Lee Gander is an artist, poet, investigative journalist and photographer. She is the editor of creative non-fiction for Mount Island Magazine, a literary and artistic magazine with a focus on rural LGBTQ, and POC writers and artists. Her writing has been featured in her former weekly radio segments, Ponder This on Green Mountain Mornings 100.3 FM/1490 AM WKVT, Rebelle Society, Ms. Magazine Blog, and elsewhere. Her co-authored book, Ghosts of Cuba: An Interracial Couple's Exploration of Cuba in the Age of Trump—Told in Images & Words is forthcoming from Green Writers Press in the fall.
