Vermont Open Studio Weekend

On May 25th and 26th, from 9:00 to 5:00, the Grand Isle Art Works gallery, 259 US Route 2, will be taking part in the statewide Vermont Open Studio Weekend, sponsored by the Vermont Crafts Council. In addition to the 75+ artists' work in the gallery there will be additional artists displaying their handiwork outside. Painter Peggy Rainville will have art for sale and plans to demonstrate her painting techniques. Jeremy Maskell will be sharing his innovative artwork made from upcycling everyday materials. Jim Holzschuh will also have a lathe in the front yard and will be doing woodturning demonstrations. Small bowls, spin tops, magical wands and other small items will be created before your eyes. Ellen will share her fiber spinning techniques. A map will be available describing a route to take to visit several other studios and galleries in the north-west corner of the state. Spots on the map are indicated by a number with Grand Isle Art Works being #4 and Sherry Corbin's Across the Grain Pottery studio #5. Sherry will be firing her raku pottery that weekend which is an exciting procedure to watch. At the gallery we will have the coffee on and there might even be some of our "almost famous" cookies to munch on. Look for bright yellow road signs indicating studio locations. Travel the beautiful roads of the northern Lake Champlain valley, Grand Isle and Franklin counties and make a day of it by supporting your Vermont artists.
