Special Town Meeting to be held on May 21 to fund the town fire services by asking voters to spend $171,048 and to place $17,000 into the Fire Equipment and Gear Reserve Fund.

Residents will also be asked to dissolve the Fire Commission by voice vote at the informational meeting on Monday, May 20 at 7 p.m. at the Weathersfield School.

Voting by Australian ballot for the two money articles will be Tuesday, May 21 at Martin Memorial Hall from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m. This special Town Meeting is taking place because voters defeated an article 397-316 at Town Meeting in March to fund the Selectboard recommended municipal fire department with a paid full-time fire chief. The Selectboard had no money allocated in the Town General Fund for the town's two fire departments' budgets beginning July 1.
