Did u know that May is National Foster Care Awareness month?
I am not recruiting new foster parents, however I encourage anyone in the community who is interested in learning more about how they can support the foster parents, the Social Workers and ultimately the children, to join me this Sunday.
I have been a foster/adoptive parent for 20 yrs, as well as a former family service employee for 6 yrs. I will be speaking this Sunday the 19th at the Wesleyan Church 5793 Waterbury Stowe Rd, Waterbury Center, VT 05677 for about 45 minutes during service, which is from 6:30-7:30pm.
If you already know me - please understand foster parents rarely ask for help from people who aren't foster/respite providers, because we don't want to pressure anyone into helping. We feel that if people want to help, they will ask how they can. So, even if you know me but didn't realize there are many ways to support, other than fostering and you want to learn more- please come.
It doesn't matter your age, abilities, finances, all are encouraged to come and listen- EVERYONE has something to offer. If all you do is come to listen and then you spread the knowledge you gain from listening, you will help grow our support network for us and these children and by doing so- you will have made a significant difference in many children's lives.
