Better Angels Red/Blue Workshop - Cambridge

Past event
Jun 15, 2019, 10 AM to 1 PM

We're looking for 2 Blue Participants and 4 Red Participants for this Better Angels Red/Blue Workshop.

What's a Red/Blue Workshop? It's a workshop bringing together 7 Red (conservative/Republican- leaning citizens) and 7 Blue (liberal/progressive/Democratic-leaning citizens) for a day of structured conversations.
Why? In Abraham Lincoln's First Inaugural Address in 1861, with the nation on the brink of civil war, he appealed to the "better angels of our nature". In our dangerously divided nation, we all need to be touched by something "better" within us and within the country we share.
Goals:
▪ To better understand the experiences and beliefs of those on the other side of the political divide.
▪ To see if there are areas of commonality, as well as differences.
▪ To learn something that might be helpful to others in our community and the nation.
The Process: The workshop is facilitated by two Better Angels-certified moderators who ensure a setting hospitable to red and blue participants alike. The focus is on listening and reflecting, rather than debating and persuading.
Requirements to participate:
▪ Be willing to listen to the "other side".
▪ Be willing to engage the "other side" in respectful conversation.
Requirements to observe:
▪ Not engage with participants, except during breaks and lunch.
What happens after the workshop? It's up to you! If you would like to keep the conversation going with folks from the other side and help to unify America, you'll have the opportunity to form a Better Angels Alliance in your community.

Please email me if you would like to sign up for this very interesting event.
