The "Unfurling of the Ferns" Celebration will take place Sunday May 19th from 1-4 PM at Dutton Pines State Park on Route 5 in Dummerston, VT. It is co-sponsored by the Vermont Dept of Forests, Parks and Recreation and the Dummerston Conservation Commission. Admission is Free.
Author and Forester, Lynn Levine and illustrator Briony Morrow-Cribbs will be available to discuss ferns.
At 2:00, Vermont Timbre (Amelia Struthers & Mike Mrowicki).will perform their inspiring music.
At 1:30, 2:30 & 3:30, State Forester Tim Morton will discuss the history and forest community of Dutton Pines, taking people on short walks around the park.
Attendees will be encouraged to explore the Park with Lynn Levine's newly published and acclaimed field guide, Identifying Ferns the Easy Way: A Pocket Guide to Common Ferns of the Northeast. There will be a "Fern Treasure Hunt" for anyone looking for a fun challenge.
20% of all sales of the reduced price fern guides during this event will be donated to the Dummerston Conservation Commission to support their ongoing environmental education efforts.
Vermont Timbre's new CD, "Songs to Light the Way," as well as their other cd's, will be available for sale.
Free light refreshments will be provided.
