Have you wondered what happens to the water that dries up in your backyard? Alex Wells, from the VT Vernal Pool Monitoring Project, will give a presentation on these temporary wetlands and how you can play a part in their conservation in Vermont. The presentation will begin at 10am on Saturday May 25 at the Barre Town Municipal Building at 149 Websterville Road. Afterwards, by 11am, we will reassemble at the end of Barclay Quarry Rd (southerly parking lot for the Barre Town Forest) and Alex will lead a guided exploration of a vernal pool in the Barre Town Forest which is being monitored by volunteers from the Vermont Center for Ecosystem Studies. We'll investigate what animals can be found there and learn about what "monitoring" a vernal pool looks like.
