Bella Voce Women's Chorus is very pleased and excited to once again present Robert De Cormier's historical cantata "They Called Her Moses," a moving description of the incredible life and work of Harriet Tubman through dramatic narration and spirituals. Actress Louise De Cormier will reprise her role as narrator for this extraordinary work. In 2013 we performed this evocative work to sold-out audiences and later recorded it for our 2014 Songs of Hope and Freedom CD. We can't wait to bring it to you again! We'll also be singing several beautiful and fun folk tune arrangements - some featuring body percussion - by Vermont's own Moira Smiley who performs, writes and arranges music performed by millions of singers world-wide. There will also be music by Gwyneth Walker and David Moore, and we'll do an encore performance of Ēriks Ešenvald's ethereal and mysterious "Stars" - a piece we sang in last December's concerts featuring tuned water glasses! An additional highlight of these, our 15th anniversary celebration concerts, will be the premiere of an energetic arrangement of "Down By the Riverside" in a new version for women's voices by Brant Adams commissioned by Bella Voce this spring. Principal Percussionist for the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and UVM Music Professor, Dr. D. Thomas Toner will be our guest artist for these concerts.
If possible, get your tickets in advance - we expect to sell out again!
