Ripton Historical Society welcomes all to a film screening of JFK: The Last Speech at Ripton Community Church on Saturday, May 25th starting at 4:00 PM.

Of President John F. Kennedy, many stories have been told. Few are less known or more revealing than his friendship with America's most celebrated poet. Yet it was Robert Frost that Kennedy made the subject of one of his most famous speeches—just weeks before his assassination. JFK: The Last Speech explores the dramatic relationship between these two seminal Americans, reaching its tragic climax in a surprising encounter with Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev at the height of the Cold War. At its center is an extraordinary speech about poetry and power that inspired a group of college classmates to alter the course of their lives.

Neil Bicknell is executive producer of JFK: The Last Speech and coauthor of a book by the same name. His wife Judy Bicknell has created a companion website www.jfkthelastspeech.org for these works. The Bicknells will be available at the screening to introduce the film, answer follow up questions and sign books for those wishing to buy one.

The Bicknells live in Boulder, Colorado and have a summer home on the edge of Bread Loaf Campus one mile from the Homer Noble-Robert Frost Farm. Neil grew up in Middlebury and attended MUHS before going to Amherst College. He was a senior there when the President visited the campus, 27 days before he was assassinated, to honor Robert Frost.
