The Cancer Center Community Crusaders 6th Annual Day of Celebration and National Cancer Survivors Day will be held 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday, June 1 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center (SVMC). The entire community is invited to join in this very special event.
The Cancer Center Community Crusaders will offer their famous Cupcake Challenge, vendor booths, music and entertainment, basket raffle, carnival games, face painting, and more. The group launches the Cancer Center Community Crusaders Day of Celebration by lighting the cauldron at approximately 11:45 a.m. A ceremony of remembrance will conclude the day's activities. Proceeds from the Cupcake Challenge and basket raffle will benefit the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center's Patient Resource Fund though the Cancer Center Community Crusaders.
This year's event will include the first Mount Anthony 5K Challenge, presented by RiseVT of Bennington County. The race starts at 10 a.m. and route begins at SVMC. Participants will enjoy the course as it meanders the beautiful trails of Mount Anthony. It is open to runners and walkers. The registration fee is $30 and all proceeds benefit the Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center's Patient Resource Fund though the Cancer Center Community Crusaders. The purpose of the Cancer Center Community Crusaders is to provide financial, physical, and emotional support to members of the community and their families as they strive to obtain the best cancer care and treatment possible. This group has raised more than $250,000 since its founding in 2014. All funds raised by the Cancer Center Community Crusaders stay in the communities of Bennington and Windham counties in Vermont and nearby New York and Massachusetts. Patients need not receive treatment at Southwestern Vermont Regional Cancer Center to be eligible for funds.
