The Vermont Youth Orchestra, under the direction of Music Director Benjamin Klemme, presents its spring concert Sketches from The New World on Sunday, May 5, 2019 at 3:00pm at the Flynn Center for the Performing Arts.
The Vermont Youth Orchestra begins its exciting spring concert with Fanfare Bravo for percussion ensemble. George Frock's piece combines a metallic keyboard trio with drum quartet and features improvised solos. In anticipation of the VYOA's summer concert tour of Spain and Portugal, the VYO will perform Grignon's colorful orchestration of Granados' Rondalla, a stylish Spanish dance originally composed for piano. The highlight of the program is a performance of Dvořák's entire ninth symphony From The New World - the culmination of their yearlong exploration of this evocative symphony. Senior Soloist Sabrina Chiang performs the fiery finale of Bruch's first violin concerto.
