Green Up Day, Saturday May 4
Event: May 4, 2019, 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Green Up Vermont Day is next Saturday, May 4th. The familiar green bags are now available for you to pick up at the Underhill, Vermont Town Hall, at the Wells Corner Market, Jerihill Hardware and the Jacobs Family Market. (The largest quantity of bags can be found at the Town Hall.). If a particular location has run out, please let Town Administrator Brian Bigelow know (899-4434 x100) and he'll restock. On Green Up Day additional bags will be at the Town Garage.

You may 'green up' any stretch of road that you like, and bring your filled bags to one of two locations between 9:00 am and Noon on Saturday: the Town Garage on New Road, or to the UJFD fire station on Route 15. If you drop your bags at the fire station, the truck will be in the rear of the building in the corner near the Memorial Garden. Please do not park anywhere near the Fire Department's garage doors, this area must be kept clear in case they get a call. Thank you for your cooperation!

There is NO ROADSIDE PICKUP for green bags, please bring your bags to one of these two locations.

Please remember that hazardous materials and used tires cannot be dropped off as part of Green Up Day efforts. Please check out the Chittenden Solid Waste District's website for information about how and where to dispose of these kinds of items. http://cswd.net/recycling/a-z

Unfortunately there are safety considerations to be aware of. Since the first Green Up Day in 1970 roadside cleanup has always required paying attention to traffic. Prevention of tick bites and 'what to do if sharps or syringes are encountered' are perhaps newer concerns. Information on those two potential health issues are on the Town Website: www.underhillvt.gov. Go to the tile 'News' on the righthand side and click on 2019 Green Up Day.
