The new season at the Star Farm dog park will begin with green up day on Saturday May 4 from 10 AM to 12 PM. Parks, Recreation & Waterfront (BPRW) will be supplying garbage bags and supplies.
Volunteers are needed that morning to help with the following tasks:
• Raking and bagging leaves that accumulated around the edges of the park.
• Picking up and disposing of all remaining poop throughout the park.
• Filling holes with soil that will be supplied by BPRW
• Doing minor maintenance as needed.
After clean-up day, the dog park will be opened and closed by volunteers on a daily basis - 8 AM opening and 8 PM (or dusk) closing. We need additional volunteers who are willing to help with opening or closing shifts. If you are unable to commit to a permanent shift, we also need subs who are willing to help with opening or closing shifts when the person responsible for a given day is unable to do it. If you are willing to help, please email Jake Schumann at schumann.j22@gmail.com who will be able to sign you up and supply additional information.
As a bonus for helping out your neighbors and our furry friends, the BPRW will be supplying a seasonal parking pass to anyone who takes on a permanent shift or volunteers to frequently sub, or takes on a dedicated role such as "hole filling friend." The pass will work at the attended city lots such as Perkins Pier and North Beach.
