Past event
May 2, 2019, 6:30 to 8 PM

Concerned about the use of herbicides and pesticides in home gardens? Join us at the People's Academy Library for a panel talk entitled "Gardening for a Healthy Planet" on Thursday, May 2, from 6:30 to 8:00 PM. Peoples Academy Middle Level students will share their plans for a pollinator-friendly school garden, followed by presentations by Sheep Farmer David Templeman (Roving Tale Farm), Lamoille County Forester Rick Dyer, and Master Gardener/Composter Denise Greene. Topics to be covered include: soil health as a crucial foundation to a chemical-free garden; commonly used pesticide and herbicides and their associated risks for humans, pets, and pollinators; and Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques for home and community gardens. The May 2 talk is intended to be the first of a Regenerative Gardening series this spring and summer, and suggestions for future events are welcome. Food and drink will be furnished. For questions contact Melissa Jordan, 802-760-9446.
