Event Description:
Do you love fishing, swimming, boating, and exploration of the beautiful lakes right here in Vermont? Always wondering about the aquatic plants you see when you're out exploring on the water? Then come join us at Farm and Wilderness as we welcome special guest, Kimberly Jensen an Environmental Scientist with the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation Lakes and Ponds Program, to talk more about plant communities in our Vermont lakes.
Kimberly will present the status of Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) in Vermont and how local citizens can be involved to reduce their threat. The audience will visually "dive in" to the benefits of aquatic plants, and we'll discuss the philosophy of healthy waters and citizen science programs that are available for Woodward Reservoir and all waterbodies in Vermont.
The program will be held at the Tamarack Farmhouse of Farm and Wilderness located off of rt. 100 in Plymouth along the Woodward Reservoir. Use the entrance by the large Farm & Wilderness sign located next to the Woodward Reservoir public boat access. There will be signage to guide you to the farmhouse once you have turned onto Farm & Wilderness Road.
This is a family friendly event and light refreshments will be served. Looking forward to seeing you!
