Courage & Compassion at the Southern Border: Solidarity with the Central American Exodus Vermonters' experiences with the Southern Border Crisis Panel and Discussion:
Wednesday, May 1, 7 p.m. Unitarian Church of Montpelier, 130 Main Street Panelists: Rev. Joan Javier-Duval recently returned from a "Root Causes of Migration" pilgrimage to Honduras, will address the causes of forced migration, local organizing and resistance in Honduras, and ways of being in solidarity with the Honduran people and other asylum seekers at the southern border.
Abby Colihan, Jo Romano, and Sally DeCicco who recently volunteered with Annunciation House in El Paso, will discuss detention, the story of Annunciation House and how volunteers help asylum seekers after detention on their journeys to join family members or sponsors in the U.S.
Members of Migrant Justice will share the perspective of the Vermont immigrant farm worker community.
