Assistant Professor of Theatre and Drama, Isaac Eddy is excited to invite you to Dibden's spring musical, The Pirates of Penzance, directed by Eric Kroncke and music directed by Mary Jane Austin.
Here is a little context about the show from our director:
Pirates of Penzance has been a popular show since its premiere in 1879! It is an upbeat musical romp full of British style silliness (think Monty Python) with great music to boot! Songs from this show are used in popular culture still to this day, the major general's song appeared in the movie "Despicable Me 3". High schools, community theaters, and professional companies put on productions of this show yearly throughout the world. Our production will be close to the traditional, but with a few comic twists. The cast we have put together is students, faculty, and alumni. We even have a string trio to heighten the glorious music led by our fantastic music director, Mary Jane Austin. Great singing, great acting, hilarious dialog, and an outstanding ensemble will make for an evening you'll not soon forget.
The show times are Thursday-Saturday, April 25-27 at 7 pm, and Sunday, April 28 at 2 pm
Tickets are free for NVU community members and $10 general admission.
