This event is a fundraiser for the VT Books to Prisoners project based in Plainfield. Funds from this event will go towards sustaining this project (shipping and operational costs) on into the summer. We are a small group of local neighbors who receive book requests from incarcerated folks locked up in 6 States, from the Northeast all the way down East coast and Texas. We ship free books to people every week, and because this is a free volunteer project, we are able to thrive because of donations and support from our central VT community, and folks like you! Come and learn more about who we are, what we do and why, and how you could help or get involved.

No one will be turned away for lack of funds, but if you can, please come out and support us and enjoy an evening of fun, games, music and solidarity.

Suggested donation of $10-$20 at the door, and options to buy tickets for games and chips for gambling.

This is also a bottle and can drive, so if you have redeemeable recycling you'd like to donate, bring it on down and we'll take it off your hands!

This is also a book drive! If you have books (paperback, ideally) that you don't want anymore, bring those too, and we'll gladly take them, and get them to lots of people who really need books to read. ALL genres and authors welcome, dictionaries are our #1 request we receive.

We also always need more clear packing tape.

This event is in collaboration with PUPS; People Uprooting Prison Society, and there will be lots of information about this group and various initiatives in VT working to confront the realities and impacts of the prison industrial complex.

The evening of May 11th in Plainfield is gonna be an extravaganza and you will definitely want to be there! See you then!

Fancy dressup for the occasion is highly encouraged :) -VTBTP-
