COCKTAIL CONTINUUM: An Evening of Expanded Poetics

BELLOWS FALLS, VT, APRIL 24, 2019 — COCKTAIL CONTINUUM: An Evening of Expanded Poetics presented by Antidote Books will launch its series with poets Bianca Stone, Seth Landman and Ben Pease at 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 24 at Wunderbar, 22 Rockingham St, Bellows Falls, VT.
Bianca Stone is a writer and visual artist. She was born and raised in Vermont and moved to New York City in 2007 where she received her MFA from NYU. She collaborated with Anne Carson on Antigonick, a book pairing Carson's translation of Antigone with Stone's illustration and comics (New Directions, 2012). Stone is the author of the poetry collection Someone Else's Wedding Vows, (Tin House Books and Octopus Books, 2014) and Poetry Comics From the Book of Hours (Pleiades Press, 2016) and most recently, The Mobius Strip Club of Grief (Tin House, 2018). Her poems, poetry comics, and nonfiction have appeared in a variety of magazines including Poetry, jubilat, Tin House Magazine and The New Yorker. She has returned to Vermont with her husband and collaborator, the poet Ben Pease, and their daughter Odette, where they run the Ruth Stone Foundation and letterpress studio.
Seth Landman is the author of the full-length poetry collections Confidence (Brooklyn Arts Press, 2015) and Sign You Were Mistaken (Factory Hollow Press, 2013). His work can be found in Boston Review, iO, Jellyfish, Lit, and elsewhere. He received his PhD in Creative Writing and Literature from the University of Denver and an MFA from the University of Massachusetts. A lifelong student and scholar of Herman Melville, he is an English teacher and assistant boys basketball coach at The Putney School in Vermont.
Ben Pease is the author of Chateau Wichman (Big Lucks Books, 2017), an epic saga of rebellion and romance for today's trying and exhausting digital times; and Wichman Cometh. His poems can be found at Brooklyn Poets, The Poetry Foundation, BOMB magazine, and elsewhere. Pease holds degrees from Emerson College and Columbia University. He is an editor of Monk Books and runs the Ruth Stone Foundation and letterpress studio in Goshen, VT.
Presented by Antidote Books, Cocktail Continuum features outstanding contemporary poets and writers engaging the community in a monthly series of readings and symposia taking place the last Wednesday of each month at the tapas biergarten Wunderbar in Bellows Falls, VT. The next event in this series will take place Wednesday, May 29, 2019.
